Custom Driver Heads
The titanium Driver business has been in flux for the last few years. Originally a very high cost manufacturing technique requiring expensive materials and a lot of expensive hand labor, most manufacturing has now moved to China. The result has been a lot of very cheap titanium drivers that have tended to break pretty easily. As you might expect, quality control in China is highly suspect.

Our current favorite supplier of titanium driver heads is an American company - Ruger. You will remember Ruger as the original manufacturer of the Callaway titanium heads. They have produced over 3 million heads in their sophisticated factories. We think that they're quality is fabulous. Beautiful "fit and finish". Plus, it is a product that is "made in USA" which we think is worth the premium price.

A couple of companies with Chinese connections stand out. SMT (standing for Superior Metal Technology) is a company that was formed to serve the long drive community and because quality is such an important issue on the long drive circuit. SMT heads are all "cannon tested" before they're finished and highly inspected to assure quality. Infiniti is another company with Chinese roots that provides a quality product. We recommend both.
