1962-63 Wilson Staff
Wilson dominated the 60's for forged clubs. Most of
the big name players used Wilsons. The 62-63 Staffs
were not chosen by accident, they were the first irons
to move the center of gravity to the center of the clubface.
That accomplished the feat by distributing weight toward
the toe and lightening the hosel by drilling it out
and plugging it with a rubber plug. They might have
been the first "game improvement" irons.
There are a lot of these around in average condition
suitable for remanufacturing. Occasionally, a set shows
up in mint condition. In mint condition, a sets often
bring $500-$700 on eBay.
