MacGregor Customs
For many years, the only real source of custom clubs that was also an OEM was MacGregor. Depending on the year and who owned the MacGregor company, the custom fitting process offered was MacGregor. To some extent, MacGregor is returning to its roots by offering custom fitting services again in 2002.

In the 60's, 70's and 80's, if you wanted a truly customized set of clubs, you could visit the MacGregor factory in Georgia and they would do the fitting. You might have to come back once or twice. You would discuss all of your options with their experts. You might, depending on the year, get a bag, headcovers and lunch with the President. You might pay $2000 to $5000 not counting travel expenses. But you would get the coolest clubs available during that time.

These custom sets were all serially numbered and MacGregor kept the records. From time to time, these truly customized sets come on the market. They are, in our opinion, fabulous. The only problem is that they were made for someone else. Nevertheless, we have been diligently building a small collection of MacGregor Customs.

There is one "buyer beware" problem. In years when MacGregor fell on hard times, they were not above stamping "MacGregor Custom" on clubs that went into distribution. Buyer beware. You can find MacGregor Customs from time to time. They can sell for a lot or a little. If you have some for sale, call us.
