Vintage Blades
The Remanufacturing Process
When we remanufacture a set of classic, vintage blades,
the process is time consuming and a little more expensive
but the finished product is just as good as our custom
forged heads that we get brand new.
The first step is to send the heads out to strip the
chrome. After they're returned, we weigh them. We grind
them to produce perfect shapes and assembly weights.
The finished weight determines the choice of shafts
within the four shaft weight ranges. If the weight permits,
we may complete some additional custom grinding. We
will almost always bore out the hosel to accept a parallel
tip shaft. Boring out the hosel destroys the "collector
value", but you're going to play with these clubs
and that destroys the collector value too. Before returning
the heads for rechroming, we make any required loft
and lie adjustments so we don't take the chance of damaging
the chrome by bending the heads after rechroming.
When the heads return from rechroming and after they
are repainted, they can be reassembled, with SST PURED
shafts into a classic, high performance set of
clubs. |
